Gnarly Dudes is named for the gnarly old Shiraz vines that year after year grow a crop of beautiful fruit that is tamed and put in bottle. Hits the palate with vibrancy and pop. Bright berry notes dance across the palate. Medium to full bodied with richness of fruit balanced by bright refreshing acidity. Tannins are prominent but melt beautifully into a wall of fruit.
Matured for 12 months in French oak,15% of which was new, and the remainder in one to six year old puncheons and hogsheads.
The many parcels making up this wine were crushed into and fermented in three, five, seven and 10 ton open top vessels. Regular pump overs three times daily were performed during the peak of fermentation to extract flavors, color and tannins. At pressing, the free run and pressings were combined to tank, then racked to barrel for oak maturation where malolactic fermentation occurred. All batches were kept separate and blended just prior to bottling.

Notes of black cherry, fresh blackberry, fresh lavender, pastry crust, and dark chocolate
Medium to full bodied in weight, this wine saturates the palate like only a Barossa Shiraz can. Plenty of bounce and energy across the palate with aromatic notes of dried flower, black peppercorns and good dose of Barossa preserved meats. Tannin profiles starts off sort of cuddly then quickly tightens, finishing quite firmly. Savory notes of wood-smoke, dried juniper and bay leaf provides a distinct spice profile whilst notes of blackberry bush proves an herbal overlay.
