This year marks 50 years of Rutherford Hill Winery! Nestled high in the Eastern Hills of Napa Valley, Rutherford Hill Winery has been a pioneer in the development of true Napa Valley, Merlot since 1972, the year it was founded. While the rest of the world was just beginning to take notice of Napa Valley, the founders of Rutherford Hill recognized a unique opportunity. They believed that the climate and soil of the valley, like Pomerol, were well suited to Merlot and were among the first to pioneer what has become Napa's premier varietal. Today, Rutherford Hill continues its tradition of crafting wines with great complexity and character with 100 percent Napa Valley fruit.

Now is an important moment in the history of Rutherford Hill. As we celebrate 50 years of our commitment to crafting wines that speak to the terroir and what makes each vintage unique, I’m excited to contribute my experience spanning nineteen harvests in four countries to the team.
