Chardonnay remains the most popular varietal in the US. Across the globe you can find several expressions, from “pure”, featuring an unoaked, lean, crisp and light bodied wine to “barrel aged”, featuring rich, full flavors of vanilla, toast and smoke. Cool climates produce elegant, aromatic wines with soft texture whereas warmer climates often produce wines of higher alcohol, riper, richer textures and deeper golden hues.
